A garden isn’t a job you can outsource in the ordinary sense. It sits right outside your kitchen window. It’s where the children play, or the dog runs, or where you sit with a coffee before anyone else is awake. Letting someone care for it, especially while you’re not there to watch, asks for a different kind of trust than most services do.

Hiring a gardener can bring on a quiet sort of worry, even before anything’s gone wrong. Who’s actually coming through the gate, will they be careful with the anxious dog, or the flower bed you’ve nursed for years, how will they interact with a family member being cared for who insists on being in the garden when they’re there, are they simply respectful of a home that isn’t theirs? And the list goes on. We know that, and respect it. After 30 years in the industry, there’s very little we haven’t encountered.

We know that trust shows in small things. Care around a dog. Patience with a family member living with dementia, and the calm required to work around them properly. None of that sits in a job description. It’s simply what happens when someone treats your home as theirs to look after, not just a space to traipse through.

Reliability matters just as much. The same faces returning, visit after visit, rather than a new crew each time who need the garden explained from scratch. Someone who flags a problem early rather than letting it grow. Clients often say this is what they value most, not the planting alone, but knowing exactly who’ll be at the gate on Tuesday morning with a nod and a quiet smile.

There’s a temptation we’ve seen, in this trade, to oversell. Work that isn’t really needed, jobs padded out. We’ve found the opposite approach is what keeps people with us for years rather than one visit. If a hedge doesn’t need cutting yet, we’ll say so. We’ve never been interested in a hard sell and we’re not starting now.

Of course, none of this trust replaces skill, and nor should it. Thirty years working on gardens across London has taught us plenty about soil, plants, and the different demands of a courtyard versus an estate. But skill alone doesn’t explain why clients stay six, seven, sometimes many more years. Why they recommend us to friends and family and chance visitors who happen to compliment their outdoor spaces. That comes down to something simpler. They trust the people we send, and they know their garden is in careful hands.

We offer an industry-leading 5 year guarantee against faulty workmanship in our landscaping department as standard. That’s why we’re the gardening company you can’t afford not to have.
