London Living Wage

It’s no secret that horticulture isn’t the highest paid industry but with hard work, training and time, one can make a good living with an exceptionally high degree of job satisfaction. Unfortunately, this means that those starting with less or no experience will have to work themselves up to that level, this can be  financially trying when you factor in the general cost of living in London and often long public transport journeys our staff face to and from work.

The Living Wage Foundation independently calculates the Real Living Wage,  it’s the only wage rate based on what people need to live well.

As well as considering the big necessities like housing, getting to and from work, bills and heating, the London living wage scheme also considers other social needs we require just to live a balanced life.

We recognised the problems faced by a number of colleagues and are proud that a year ago we decided that joining the London Living wage scheme would be the most responsible way to show this.
